Join Us This Sunday

9am or 11am in Downtown

Join us this Sunday as Pastor Kevin Haah continues the advent series, The Mothers of Jesus. We will look at four women in the genealogy of Jesus during the Advent.  This Sunday’s sermon is from Matthew 1:1-3 and entitled, “Bathsheba: A Victim of a Powerful Man” is about Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah who King David slept with.  Bathsheba was a victim of a powerful man who wanted her for his pleasure.  Why did Matthew specifically list her on the genealogy of Jesus?  What does this tell us about who Jesus is?   Please join us this Sunday.

CICLAVIA

Please note the road closures for the CicLAVIA this Sunday.  6th Street crossing Spring Street will be open; so, this should not impact traffic too much this Sunday.  Please give yourself extra 5-10 minutes just in case.

THANKS FOR SIGNING UP!

Angel Tree is an opportunity to give a gift to a child of an incarcerated parent on behalf of the parent.  This is a way of delivering the love of the parent to the child.  There will be a table in the lobby starting this Sunday for Angel Tree signup.  Note: while we encourage you to invite the Angel Tree family to the New City Christmas party, you need to deliver the gift to their home.

WE ARE HIRING!

New City is taking applications for two pastoral positions: (1) Pastor of Community and Spiritual Formation; and (2) Pastor of Community Engagement and Advocacy.  These are both half-time positions (but with some flexibility–please read the job description for more details).  They can also be combined to be one full-time position: Pastor of Spiritual Formation and Community Engagement. We have not decided whether to hire two half-time pastors or one full-time pastor.  This depends on the candidate.  Please apply by December 15, 2017.  Send cover letter and resume to Kevin Haah at kevin@newcitychurchla.com.  If you have any questions, please email Kevin at kevin@newcitychurchla.com.
