An Address to the Areopagus of LA

Preacher:
Passage: Acts 17:16-34

When Paul got to Athens, the greatest intellectual city of the world, he was not impressed; rather he was greatly distressed because the city was full of idols. So, he went to the synagogue and the marketplace (where ideas were exchanged) every day and shared the good news about Jesus. And he was invited to address tha Areopagus, the greatest intellectual body of the world. There is so much to learn from (1) the way Paul approached the Areopagus and (2) what he said to them.

How did Paul approach the Areopagus? He reasoned with them; he respected their dignity and choice; and he met them where they were.

What did Paul say to them? He argued that they knew in their hearts that God is the creator of the universe; he shared that this God wants a relationship with them; and he shared the good news of Jesus Christ, the cross and the resurrection.
