In order to understand what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit, we have to first understand what it means to live by the Spirit. The Bible explains what living by the Spirit is in contrast to living by the law. To live by the Spirit means to live in the second column, living as loved sons and daughters, beloved children of God, in an intimate relationship with him. And being filled with the Spirit is to be saturated with God’s grace, love, pleasure, and intimacy.
