Praying God’s Tears

Preacher:
Passage: Nehemiah 1:1-4

A prayer is not just a one way communication. It is not just about pouring our hearts to God. As we come into the presence of God, as we live in his love, as we live in his grace, we begin to experience God’s heart, God’s pain, God’s love for the people who live in darkness. When we look at the reality of the things that are going on in the world (war, racism, oppression, corruption, poverty, addictions, depression, loneliness, meaninglessness, brokenness), it breaks our hearts. We see the plight of those oppressed by drug or poverty or disease right here in Skid Row. If we who are generally selfish are pained by these things that are going on, how much more is God pained by such things? So, what do we do with all the injustice? What do we do with the darkness of the world that see? What do we do? That's what this sermon is about.
