Wise People Seek Wise Counsel

Preacher:
Passage: Various Passages

Reflecting on the Sunday Message: Wise People Seek Counsel
We all want to know God’s will for our lives. The Proverbs are ripe with verses affirming the wisdom of seeking wise counsel in an effort to understand God’s will. The Proverbs also say that it is foolish not to seek counsel for life’s many challenges. The beautiful thing is that God can and does speak to us about our lives but because of sin and our fallen state we only hear and understand things partially. So this makes our need for wise counsel even greater.

So why don’t we seek it when the Bible says its foolish not to?

Our old sinful nature still clouds our view and makes us think we do not need help in three major ways. 1- It leads us to buy into American individualism. 2- It leads us to Spiritual Pride 3- And it makes us vulnerable to Spiritual Warfare. Each of these hold us back from seeking wisdom from others, which can be devastating to our lives

But God has given us help in the body of Christ to understand his revealed will for our lives. These people are our mentors, disciplers and sponsors. These people help us understand what God is saying to us about any number of difficult situations where we need guidance.
