Gloriana spent most of her life in Los Angeles, though she was born in Korea and grew up in the Midwest. She came to LA for her bachelor’s and master’s and stayed for her family. Gloriana spent many years in the medical field and worked more years as a secondary science teacher. Recently, she became a teacher coach and mentor for the district. She grew up in a traditional Christian home from birth, and God got her attention when her marriage fell apart. She was inspired by her parents, who never told her but helped countless people, including her former student who was alive, due to her parents’ help when the baby’s parents couldn’t afford the necessary and expensive medication.   When Gloriana’s parents passed away, she sought a church that echoed her and her parent’s hearts. Gloriana sought a church that wasn’t just a place of worship but a church that mattered to people, especially marginalized and oppressed. She came to NCC for a visit through a pastor friend and stayed. She believed that NCC was the kind of church Jesus would have attended if he had been here on this earth. Messy, diverse people are doing their lives together. She says, “I felt like I came home.” She is a part of the prayer team and worship team. She serves as a Stephen ministry caregiver, and Downtown Grow and Serve group co-leader. She is also leading the care ministry for a short term. She loves learning and enjoys adventures in travel, fine arts, and nature, which draw her near God’s sweet presence and love.
