Jenny was born in Mexico City and immigrated to the US at the age of 10. Not long after coming to this country, her parents started to attend Nazarene Church in Rosemead, California, where she decided to follow Christ. During High School, she was involved in the BASIC Club (a Christian group) and became a member of a church in East L.A. for seven years, where she served as a leader in the Youth Ministry, a Sunday school teacher, and later started the Young Adults Ministry. After attending Pasadena City College as a Math Major, she discovered Nursing as a way to help others, but because of her immigration status, she made the decision to go back to Mexico and pursue nursing. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and a Specialty in Obstetrics from UNAM. She came back to the US after 8 years of being away from her family and friends. As she started a new journey, it did not take long before her best friend, Vanessa Padilla, invited her to ACTS 2 Grow and Serve Group. She fell in love with the way this small community shared time together and how they supported one another and broke bread together. Her love for this community expanded even more after she started attending NCC Sunday Services more regularly in 2019. Right after becoming a member, she started co-leading in the Justice Team Ministry. She has developed a heart to serve the community members who are most impacted by our injustice system. She continues to learn how to put her faith into action, how to love our neighbors, and how to show God’s love in our communities.
