Who are we?
We are a diverse community within New City that seeks to uphold the dignity of all our communities through relational connection and social action, moving toward greater justice and equity in Los Angeles. The Justice Team represents New City in the multi-faith network called LA Voice.
What do we do?
We invite New City Church members to persevere in direct service (projects of relief and mercy) and systemic justice work (advocacy and community organizing); we build relationships inside our church and outside of our church, knowing that we can’t do this work alone; we listen to and empower marginalized voices; we seek to humbly imitate Christ by embracing the discomforts, struggles, and fights that characterize seeking social justice in our city.
For what purpose? Why?
To bear witness to the Kingdom of God blossoming in this world: the reality of God’s love, justice, mercy, and redemption for all people, especially the marginalized and oppressed. Because following the God of Scripture means building a community of belonging.
What are the values that motivate us?
We are motivated by God’s generous love for humanity; we are motivated by the belief that loving our neighbor means cultivating a better society where our communities and families can thrive socially, economically, educationally, and environmentally.
