Converted by Grace

Preacher:
Passage: Acts 9:1-22

Saul was a Pharisee, a zealous follower of the Mosaic Law. he believed that righteousness and approval from God came by obeying those laws. When he heard Stephen claim that some of the Mosaic Laws were not required anymore, he saw Christians as dangerous, and decided to root them out by killing them or putting them into prison.

But, Saul was converted on the road to Damascus. After the conversion, his life changed dramatically. He lived with joy, peace, and love in the midst of sufferings. He became one of the most influential Apostles and took the gospel to the Gentiles with great success.

How did his conversion happen, and how does our conversion happen? (1) He came face to face with the reality of the resurrected Jesus; (2) he realized his own spiritual blindness -- the depth of his brokenness; and (3) he came to realize the power of the good news of the unity between Jesus and us -- that what happened to Jesus happened to us, and vice versa.
