If you look at the overall structure of the letter: it starts out by saying this is what God has done for you! Understand it. Be mesmerized by it! See the beauty of it. Then, it goes on to say what our lives should be like as a result of what he has done for us. And he ends it by saying, you can only do this is you put on the full armor of God. The full armor of God is in many ways the results of the gospel—the first part. What he has done for us. First part is about God’s work, the second part is about our response, and the last part is how we put them together. It is God’s armor but we have to learn to put it on, we have to take the action of putting them on.
