How to Handle Anxiety
This passage teaches us three things about handling anxiety: (1) Acknowledge our anxiety. This means that we don’t deny or repress our negative emotions. We need to be able to share them with a safe person who can be empathetic and compassionate. This will give us the space and wisdom to process the negative emotions. (2) Pray our anxiety. This means to be emotionally real with God, listen to God, thank God, and then, present our request to God. (3) Experience the peace of God. Experiencing God’s peace does not mean that our underlying circumstances have changed. But, it does mean that God will protect our hearts and minds from anxiety.
