LOVE ONE ANOTHER = LOVE THE OTHER
Othering/otherizing = To make or regard (a person, social group, etc.) as different; separate from “our”; any action by which an individual or group becomes mentally classified as “not one of us” and potentially identified as being in some way less human & less worthy of respect/dignity than we are. In Numbers 16 Korah challenged the leadership of Moses and Aaron; asking why did they get a position of greater honor than he did? His jealousy caused him to look at them as "the other". Moses and Aaron did not respond in the same way. The descendants of Korah learned from his otherizing and lived lives of gratitude and humility. Instead of "otherizing", God calls us to "one anothering" which is derived from the Greek word allelon which means "one another, each other; mutually, reciprocally."
