Why is there so much mess in our relationships? Instead of getting life from God, we are trying to suck out life from one another, and it is not working. The Scriptures tell us that we were all created with a God-shaped vacuum that can only be satisfied with God’s love; instead of filling it with God’s love, though, we have sought to fill it with something else, which does not satisfy. So, we are left with a huge vacuum, and engage in relationships out of hunger to feed that vacuum. This often leads to unhealthy relationships.

We are called to engage in relationships not to get full but to express fullness. The only one who can save us, restore us, fill us, unconditionally love us is Jesus Christ. It is out of our fullness in our relationship with God that we are called to overflow in our relationships with one another.
