Nausea
Today, we are studying the message of Jesus to the churches in Philadelphia and Laodicea.
Philadelphia: To a church locked out of communion from both Jews and Gentiles, Jesus said I have the key and have opened the door to the presence of God. He encouraged them and told them to hold on as he unveiled the reality of what is to come.
Laodicea: To a church that was lukewarm, Jesus said he was so nauseated that he wanted to vomit. The problem in this church was the complacency that came from material comfort and security. They bought into the idea of consumerism. He called them to seek real gold that is found through the refiner’s fire. It is not in consuming that we find the good life, it is in the training and discipline to do something beyond ourselves.
How do we do this? How do we find zeal for God? Repent, and open the door that Jesus is knocking on in our heart. And enjoy fellowship with Jesus. It is when we grow deep in experiencing his love for us and our love for Jesus,, we can find zeal for God.
