Pride is something that we all are guilty of, and when we see it in people, we distain it. Sins like drunkenness, anger, greed, and sexual promiscuity are a flea bite compared to this sin. This is the mother of all sins. It is through pride, the devil became a devil; it is the root of all sins; it is a complete anti-God state of mind. It is the thing that will cut us off from God.

What is pride? Pride is needing to feel better than other people in some way. Essentially, pride is looking down at other people. Pride essentially feeds on comparing ourselves with other people.

What is the problem with pride? (1) It creates relational strife in our lives; and (2) it leads us to destruction, to a place of separation from God.

The only way to God is humility. But, how do we get humility? Through a deep self- examination of the pride in our hearts.
