This past week we have looked into our soul as a nation and even as a church and we have found that there is an ugliness there seeking to divide us. It is an ugliness that many of us have tried desperately to ignore as we quickly travel on our own road from Jerusalem to Jericho. It is an ugliness that would seek to divide us on the basis of race. And with the passage of landmark Supreme Court decisions affecting healthcare, the incarceration of drug offenders, discrimination in housing, and affirming the right of our LGBT brothers and sisters to marry, it is an ugliness that would seek to divide us based upon our politics, our sexuality, and our interpretations of Scripture.
