Jesus viewed the cross as glorious. How could such a degrading death be glorious? There are many ways to explain the glory of the cross, but in this passage, Jesus said his death would drive out the prince of this world—Satan. The cross will defeat Satan. To help us understand what that means, we need to understand the foundation of the spiritual warfare worldview: (1) how Satan ended up taking over the world, (2) how the cross defeated Satan, and (3) what all of these things mean for us now.
