When a Band-Aid Just Won’t Do
Jeremiah, the “weeping prophet” continues to mourn the deep sin of his people and the self-inflicted judgment that God has shown him is sure to come. The people of God have drifted so far from God that they are lying to themselves and attempting to lie to God about just how far from God their hearts have strayed. Jeremiah sees the sin of God’s people as a deep and gaping wound that they have not taken seriously and he longs for a repentance and healing that he fears may never come.
This week, we will look at the deep wounds that the church and that our nation has inflicted in its rejection of God. May we find the healing we need in the balm of Christ and Christ alone.
