Hannah: More than a Mom
Hannah was the mother of Samuel who before she was the mother of Samuel was the wife of Elkanah, and before she was the wife of Elkanah, she was someone’s daughter, but before she was someone’s daughter she was God’s beloved daughter. In the passage we are able to journey with Hannah and take a closer look into her life. Hannah was unseen, unknown, taunted, and depressed. She lived under the societal pressure to fit into a role of motherhood, something she little to no control over. As a part of the tribe of Ephraim she lived under an immense burden to produce children. As we look at this passage we are able to see how when Hannah encounters God and discovers she is more than what they said. She begins to realize that is not defined by society but rather that she is seen and known by God. How do we listen and follow the Holy Spirit? What are ways your identity is questioned?
